Gulf states are caught between a rock and a hard place as they consider how to respond to Iran's volley of attacks on critical infrastructure, and threats that continue.

The Gulf Cooperation Council has been meeting to co-ordinate defence, diplomacy and a way forward. Saudi Arabia says it reserves the right to strike back.
